Good Boost is coming to Hungerford

All of us have twinges, aches, pains and other problems, mainly with the parts of us that are designed to bend but which, as time advances, don’t do this as well as they should. Generally, these are improved by the right kind of exercise. However, the instinctive reaction to pain is often to curl up like a hedgehog. If active habits are curtailed, other problems can kick in as well.

Water-based exercises can be particularly beneficial as they are largely non-weight bearing. What’s needed, therefore, is a series of properly run classes in a local swimming pool which can help keep those joints moving.

Fortunately, that’s exactly what’s about to start at Hungerford Leisure Centre. The programme is called Good Boost (see below for more on this) and the sessions start at 1pm on Monday 10 February, running every Monday thereafter.

What is Good Boost?

Good Boost sessions are low-impact, water-based exercise programs designed to enhance strength, mobility, and overall well-being. They are especially beneficial for individuals looking for gentle exercise, such as older adults or those recovering from injuries. There will be an activator running the sessions who can support throughout.

Benefits of water-based Good Boosts

  • Improved mobility: the buoyancy of water reduces joint strain, making movements smoother and more comfortable.
  • Increased inclusivity: accessible for a wide range of ages and abilities.
  • Enhanced well-being: participants often report reduced pain and improved mental health.
  • Community Connection: these sessions encourage social interaction, helping to foster a sense of belonging.
